Reader Question: How do I know if Citrix Presentation Server is right for my company? Will Terminal Services alone do everything I need? |
 |
 |
Answer: You may have already heard that Terminal Services is primarily designed for low-complexity environments. But what does “low-complexity” mean? Does it describe your organization? Citrix has broken it down into ten easy questions. Your answers will tell you if your business can benefit from Presentation Server.
Part One
- Do your users need to access more than one or two applications?
- Do your users need consistent, reliable, responsive access to applications over many types of connections?
- Do users frequently print from remote locations?
A few of you might have answered “no” to all of these questions, in which case your organization has a low-complexity environment and Windows Terminal Services may be able to meet all of your needs. But if you answered “yes” to even one of the above questions, proceed to Part Two.
Part Two
Next, ask yourself whether you face any of the following challenges:
- Do you need access to applications to be easy for users to learn and adapt to?
- Do your users need applications to be responsive and high-performance, regardless of the type of network connection?
- Would you benefit from being able to manage the server farm and many applications from a central console?
- Are any of the applications you’d like to centrally deliver reported to be incompatible with Terminal Services?
- Would your organization benefit from centralizing applications and data within the secure control of the data center, and from using role-based policies to control access to business information and intellectual property?
- Do your workers use a variety of devices or operating systems to access applications from home, other offices, or partner or customer sites?
- Do you have mobile or remote workers who need application access to be reliable, even when their network connectivity isn’t?
If you answered “yes” to any of these, Presentation Server can help. For more information on Citrix Presentation Server, call us at 888.204.7870, email info@thinclientpricing.com or visit our website at:

Fun Fact of the Week |
 |
 |
According to A. Barbour, author of "Louder Than Words: Nonverbal Communication," only 7 percent of communication is what we say — the rest is how we say it. Pitch, volume, and rhythm carry 38 percent of a message, while body language, facial expressions, and eye movement account for a whopping 55 percent.
